Barako Bull remains unbeaten after defeating Talk ‘N Text


Barako Bull Energy Cola won their third straight game in the PBA Governor’s Cup 2015 after beating Commissioner’s Cup Champion Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters, 100-97, on Friday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Antipolo.

The victory led by their import Liam McMorrow with 26 points and 28 rebounds. Dylan Ababou added 17 points.

JC Intal scored 14 points, RR Garcia added 13 points and Joseph Yeo had 12 points to help the team victory.

Barako Bull headed to their 3-0 run victory and grabbed the lead in the Governor’s Cup standings tied with GlobalPort Batang Pier.

Talk ‘N Text drooped to 1-1 run in the tournament.

Tropa import Steffphon Pettigrew finished with only 23 points while Jay Washington added 18 points.

Petron took a good start in PSL best-of-three finals

Powerhouse Petron won in 3 straight set over Shopinas.com, 25-18, 25-14, 25-19, game one of the best-of-three finals on Monday at the Imus Sports Cmplex.

Blaze Spikers dominated all fronts to secure their first win in the finals.

Frances Molina made a good start in set one as she made the first point for Blaze Spikers. Stephanie Mercado with a big block to tie at one. Dindin Manabat attack to close the first set of game one.

Lot of errors committed by the Lady Clickers as a reason of their downfall in game one.

Maica Morada sent them within the match point but Faye Guebara made a block after an attack by Frances Molina to close to 19-24. Aby Marano big block took the 
Blaze Spikers in game one.

Dindin Manabat topscored for Petron with 16 points including set point attack in second set and a match point attack. Maica Morada added nine points while Rachel 
Anne Daquis with eight points.

Cha Cruz led the Shpoinas.com scored 13 points while Stephanie Mercado with only six points.

Philippine finished 7th in the 1st Asian U-23 Women’s Volleyball Championship 2015

The Philippines end their AVC Under-23 Women’s Volleyball Championship campaign at seventh place after defeating Iran in 3 straight, 25-15, 25-21, 26-24 on Saturday at the Philsport Arena.

Team Captain Alyssa Valdez finished with 21 points while Jaja Santiago added 17 points including a match point with back-to-back quick attacks.

Philippines survive in a tense moments in the third set when Iran moved up by 22-25.

After a service error from Iran and Valdez’s block attack, Philippines tied the match at 24.

“Before the start of the game, I told my players na we want to end this competition by winning our last game.” said coach Roger Gorayeb. “It’s for the fans and for the people of the Philippines.” he added.

“We’re really happy that we won the game,” said Valdez. “We should focus and enjoy the game. It’s great for volleyball in the Philippines.”

Iran fought in the third set using a 10-3 run to reach the match point at 24-22, but the Philippines force to end the game in third set.

Neda Chamlanian scored 10 points for Iran to finished eighth place in the tournament.

Japan whips Philippines in the second round of U23 Asian Women’s Championship.

Japan won in a three straight set against the Philippines, 25-12, 25-18, 25-15 in the second round campaign of 1st Asian Under-23 Women’s Championship on Monday at the Philsport Arena in Pasig.

Game took only an hour and five minutes as Japan whips the Philippines.

As the team lost against Japan, the Philippines is now in danger of falling to the bottom two in Pool E to avoid face-off against the top teams from Pool F.

Misaki Yamauchi led Japan with eight points, all of them from the attack line. Kaori 
Mabashi scored eight points while Yuka Imamura, Hitomi Kodama and Arisa Inoue with six points apiece to contribute the team.

Team captain, Alyssa Valdez finished 15 points while Grethcel Soltones with 8 points and Jaja Santiago added seven points.


Japan proves that their strong as they beat the country’s long absence in the international scene in volley sports.

Phillippines win in 3 straight set against Kazakhstan

The Philippines advanced to quarter finals as they beat Kasakhstan in 3 straight set, 25-19, 25-11, 27-25 in 1st Asian Under-23 Women’s Volleyball Championship on Saturday at the Philsport Arena.

Philippines with 1-1 in the board and joined by Iran as qualifiers from Pool A. The top two from each four groups will advance to quarterfinals under the tournament format.

Philippines always lead in the first two set. Almost took a fourth set after Kazakhstan scored 4-0 before the match point.

With the crowd cheer, Philippines force to attack the great defense of Kazakhstan after a big attack from Valdez to led and match point attack form Santiago.

Team Captain, Alyssa Valdez with 19 points and three service ace while Jaja Santiago added 12 point including match point that set the Philippines to advance in the quarter round.


Yana Yagodina scored 18 points for Kazakhstan.

Philippines fall short to Iran

The Philippines Women’s U-23 Team lost its first game against Iran in four set in the 1st Asian U23 Women’s Volleyball Championship on Friday afternoon at the Philsport Arena (Ultra).

Team Captain Alyssa Valdez exploded 31 points, injured right hand in the 2nd set after a block, but still unable to win against Iran with 25-22, 25-22, 19-25, 25-20 win.

The Philippines can’t take over close first two set but still Iran dominates with big blocks from the Iranians.

In the third set, Philippines fires 13 attacks and four aces to force a four set

Fourth set belongs to Iran as they take 19-10 advantage against the Philippines as they face their first lost with 25-20 win.


Mahsa Saberi, team captain, led Iran scored 16 points while Mahsa Kadkhoda with 14 points including match point.

Talk ‘N Text win in an epic double overtime Game Seven battle against Rain or Shine

Talk ’N Text finally titled as 2015 PBA Commissioner’s Cup beating the Rain or Shine, 121-119, in a first double overtime Game Seven in the history of the PBA.

Ranidel de Ocampo lead the Tropang Texters with 34 points career high. His three-pointer shots set to take the lead against Elasto Painters. De Ocampo hit a two free throws to lead into a 121-118 with 23 second remaining.

Their import Ivan Johnson with 30 points and Jayson Castro with almost a triple-double, 21 points, 12 assist and 9 rebounds.

The team was their first championship since 2013 Philippine Cup under Norman Black and its seventh championship title since their first appearance in the pro league.

Paul Lee led with his new career-high 38 points while import Wayne Chism finished with 34 points. Chism take an important two three-point shot to forced into an overtime. Tiu contribute 10 points for the team.

Rain or Shine with runner-up finished in their every finals appearance.

Shopinas.com to face Petron in the best-of-three finals



The Shopinas.com beat the Foton in Set 5, 22-25, 25-23, 25-19, 21-25, 17-15 to face the undefeated Petron in the Philippine SuperLiga All Filipino Conference at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Paneng Mercado with 24 points, Cha Cruz with 21 points, Kim Keanna Dy scored 12 points and Michelle Laborte with 9 points to beat the Tornadoes.

Nichole Tiamzon scored 22 points while Pam Lastimosa scored 20 and Patty Orendain with 18 points to lead the Tornadoes in the semi-final battle.

This is the rematch of the two teams in the final round after PSL Grand Prix champion Petron beating Generika now Shopinas.com.


The first game of the best-of-three finals will be held at Imus City Sports Complex in Cavite on May 11.

Petron Blaze Spikers eyed for their back-to-back appearance in the PSL final after beating Philips Gold Slammers in 3 set, 25-14, 25-23,25-18,on Monday in the Philippine SuperLiga All Filipino Conference at Cuneta Astrodome Pasay City.

Aby Marano score 13 points added Rachel Anne Daquis with 12 points and Maica Morada added 11 points to lead Lady Spikers for their final appearance.

Philips Gold lead by Myla Pablo scored 10 points while Rossan Fajardo and Michelle Gumabao with 5 points each followed by Iris Tolenada with 4 points.


The best-of-three finals will start on May 11 against Shopinas.com in Imus Cavite.

PBA Team, NLEX Road Warriors in Ilocos Sur

It was a very lucky for the basketball fans in Ilocos Sur to meet a basketball team from the Philippine Basketball Association, a premiere basketball league in the country. The NLEX Road Warriors started the their season in the PBA last Philippine Cup Conference of 2014-2015 Season.

The whole team are now in Ilocos Sur to train aspiring basketball stars ages 8-15 years old.

The training camp ran from April 23-25 at University of Northern Philippines Gymnasium.

The team also here to have a provincial practice for the upcoming Governor’s Cup that will begin this May.

Team manager Ronald Dulatre, raised from Caoayan Ilocos Sur, this serve as a gift to the people of the province to see their favorite basketball stars.

One of the players of the team are Asi Taulava, one of the Greatest 40 PBA Players and former national team players, Mac Cardona, KG Canaleta, Jonas Villanuva, Enrico Villanueva and they are all veteran players.

The 2015 Asian U23 Women’s Volleyball Championship is scheduled to held on May 1-9, 2015 in Pasig City. It will serve as the Asian qualifiers for the 2015 FIVB Women's U23 Volleyball World Championship to be held in Ankara,Turkey with the top two teams qualifying for the world championship.

Quiñahan fined P50,000 and Game Suspension



The PBA slapped a P50,000 on Rain or Shine big man JR Quiñahan’s pocket and suspended in Game Five on Thursday for his part in a brawl in the last quarter of Game Four of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals.
Quiñahan was fined P40,000 for throwing the ball at Talk ‘N Text forward Matt Ganuelas-Rosser and P10,000 for taking a fighting stance after his action.
Quiñahan will miss Game Five of the best-of-seven series on Friday.

Quiñahan was appeared on commissioner Chito Salud on Thursday with Ibañes, and Ganuelas-Rosser.

Petron still undefeated in the PSL elims



The defending champion Petron Blaze Spikers win over Shopinas.com Lady Clickers with 25-19, 25-12, 25-23 to complete the run as undefeated team in the Philippine Super Liga All Filipino Conference second round elimination at the Cuneta Astrodome on Monday night.

Dindin Manabat with 18 points, Aby Marano with 9 points and six points from Rachel Anne Daquis for the Petron Blaze Spikers.

Just more than an hour of game with 3 set to took their 10th straight win in the Super Liga.

Shopinas.com put a huge fight in the 3rd set within 13-14 but Petron step up the gas to the finish line.

Super Liga ambassadress Cha Cruz together with Paneng Mercado with seven points to lead the Lady Clickers.

Shopinas.com now with 5-4 win tied with Foton Tornadoes in the second spot of the league.


Shopinas,com and Foton still have to face on Thursday to see whose going to advance to semis in the second spot.

Valdez, flag barrier for the Philippine Team in SEA Games 2015



Alyssa Valdez, Ateneo Lady Eagles superstar will be the flag bearer of the Philippines for the 2015 Southeast Asian Games to be held in Singapore on June 5-16, it was announced on Wednesday, April 15.
Valdez just recently led the Lady Eagles to back-to-back UAAP women's volleyball titles. In May, she will also lead the Philippine team in the Asian Under-23 volleyball cup to be held in the country.
Valdez will be the third Filipino athlete to carry the country's flag in a major sport competition after Youth Olympic gold medalist Luis Gabriel Moreno in the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing China and eight-division boxing world champion Manny Pacquiao for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
The Philippine Olympic Committee executive council selected Valdez to carry the Philippine flag, citing her charisma, humility, and willingness to serve the country as reasons for her appointment.
